In 776 B.C., the first Olympic Games were held at the foot of Mount Olympus to honor the Greeks’ chief god, Zeus. The warm climate for outdoor activities, the need for preparedness in war, and their lifestyle caused the Greeks to create competitive sports. Only the elite and military could participate at first, but later the games were open to all free Greek males who had no criminal record. The Greeks emphasized physical fitness and strength in their education of youth. Therefore, contest in running, jumping, discuss and javelin throwing, boxing, and horse and chariot racing were held in individual cities, and the winners competed every four years at Mount Olympus. Winners were greatly honored by having olive wreaths placed on their heads and having poems sung about their deeds. Originally these contests were held as games of friendship, and any wars in progress were halted to allow the games to take place. They also helped to strengthen bonds among competitors and the different cities represented.
The Greeks attached so much importance to the games that they calculated time in four-year cycles called “Olympiads,” dating from 776 B.C. The contest coincided with religious festivities and constituted an all-out effort on the part of the participants to please the gods. Any who disobeyed the rules were dismissed and seriously punished. These athletes brought shame not only to themselves, but also to the cities they represented.

( tugas bahasa inggris 2 ) Mahasiswa Tutup Jalan di Depan Gedung DPR
Aksi unjuk rasa menentang kenaikan harga bahan bakar minyak (BBM) kembali terjadi di depan gedung DPR/MPR pada Selasa (27/3/2012) siang. Kali ini, massa berasal dari Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa (BEM) Batavia. Kelompok ini terdiri dari Himpunan Mahasiswa Islam dan Universitas Jayabaya. Jumlah peserta demo sekitar 100 orang. Mereka mendatangi halaman gedung DPR di Jalan Gatot Subroto, Jakarta Selatan.
Kedatangan para mahasiswa yang turun dari sebuah bus itu sempat mengganggu arus lalu lintas. Mereka berjalan dari kolong jembatan Senayan secara berbanjar menutup semua ruas jalan menuju depan gedung DPR. Para mahasiswa yang membentangkan spanduk tuntutan "BBM Naik, SBY turun" ini sempat mencoret jalan dengan menggunakan piloks dengan pesan serupa.
Saat tiba di depan gedung DPR, sekitar 100 orang ini langsung luber kembali menutup jalan, termasuk jalur bus transjakarta. Mahasiswa juga sempat menghadang mobil Metro TV yang sedang melintas. Seorang di antaranya bahkan sempat menaiki mobil Metro TV sambil mengibarkan bendera Universitas Jayabaya. Di dalam tuntutannya, mereka meminta aspirasi untuk tidak menaikkan harga BBM didengar.
"Kami tidak akan anarkis. Tapi macetkan saja se-Jakarta agar tuntutan kami para mahasiswa supaya didengar para elite, kami tidak akan anarkis," kata salah seorang koordinator aksi.
Aksi mahasiswa dengan cepat dihadang aparat kepolisian dan pasukan antihuru-hara. Setelah berdialog sekitar lima menit, massa akhirnya menurut dan memberikan ruang dua ruas jalan, termasuk jalur bus transjakarta.

Menurut saya : aksi mahsiswa yang mengataas namakan rakyat sebenarnya bagus. Namun caranya saja yang salah. Menyampaikan aspirasi tidak harus denga cara yang anarkis, ataupun megganggu kepentingan umum seperti menutup jalan. Dengan menutup jalan dengan tidak sadar mereka telah menghambat laju kendaraan dan sebenarnya merugikan masyarakat banyak. Berdemolah dengan tindakan yang lebih baik, yang mencerminkan identitas diri sebagai mahasiswa.

Rapat yang dijadwalkan dimulai pukul 13.30 WIB, Jumat (30/3/2012) namun rapat baru dimulai sekitar pukul 14.30 WIB. Ketua DPR Marzuki Alie memimpin rapat ini. Tampak Wakil Ketua DPR Pramono Anung mendampingi Marzuki Alie sudah duduk di kursi pimpinan DPR.
"Saya harap bapak-bapak ibu-ibu anggota DPR segera memasuki ruang rapat karena rapat paripurna dijadwalkan pukul 13.30 WIB," kata Marzuki saat meminta anggota DPR segera duduk di ruang rapat paripurna DPR.
Hal ini disampaikan Marzuki kepada anggota dewan di ruang rapat DPR, Senayan, Jakarta, Jumat (30/3/2012), sekitar pukul 14.15 WIB.
Namun anggota DPR tampak belum bersiap. Sejumlah anggota DPR baru datang. Anggota DPR lainnya malah sibuk bercerita dan bercengkerama.
Secara terpisah Marzuki menyampaikan paripurna kenaikan harga BBM akan dibahas melalui mekanisme musyawarah. Kalau menemui jalan buntu, baru dilakukan voting.

Menurut saya kemoloran waktu rapat paripurna BBM di gedung DPR merupakan ketidak niatan para anggota dewan untuk segera menyelesaikan kisruh di luar gedung DPR. Semakin lama masa semakin banyak berdatangan dan mengakibatkan terjadinya tindakan anarkis.
Kemudian dari sisi pengambilan keputusan, beberapa partai juga seperti mempermainkan keadaan, yang satu berperan seolah-olah membantu rakyat dan yang satu lagi berperan seolah-olah ingin memperkaya kantong sendiri.

Berbasis di Washington, DC, Pusat Linguistik Terapan (CAL) adalah sebuah organisasi nirlaba yang berkomitmen untuk meneliti hubungan antara bahasa dan budaya Didirikan pada tahun 1959, direktur pertama adalah Charles A. Ferguson (1921-1998, yang telah diberikan program serupa di Timur Tengah dan mengajar sebagai profesor di Universitas Harvard. Ferguson dipandu pusat untuk mengembangkan solusi praktis untuk bahasa diterapkan dan keprihatinan keaksaraan pemerintah internasional dan nasional. Asal Salah satu proyek awal Ferguson adalah untuk mengembangkan tes yang akan mengukur perintah bahasa yang ESL (Bahasa Inggris-as-a-Second-Language) mahasiswa dan pegawai pemerintah telah. Ferguson dan sesama diterapkan linguistik peneliti mengembangkan tes TOEFL selama lima tahun pertama CAL. Pada tahun 1964, resmi pertama tes TOEFL diambil di pusat.Pembangunan Sejak akhir 1960-an, tes TOEFL telah dikelola oleh Educational Testing Service (ETS), sebuah organisasi standar-pengujian internasional. Menurut ETS, antara 1964 dan 2008, 24 juta orang, sebagian besar siswa internasional, telah mengambil tes. Diperkenalkan pada tahun 2005, ujian berbasis internet telah menggantikan format berbasis komputer dan berbasis kertas, dengan hasil berbasis komputer diperintah tidak lagi berlaku pada tahun 2006.
Sejak tahun 1998, tes TOEFL ini diadakan secara online dengan menggunakan komputer (Computer-based Testing/CBT), dan sejak tahun 2005 disebut iBT (Internet-based Test). Di tempat-tempat yang belum bisa melaksanakan CBT atau iBT (karena belum ada fasilitas komputer dan jaringan internetnya), ujian TOEFL ini masih tetap diadakan secara manual menggunakan kertas dan potlot (paper-based test atau PBT).
Biasanya tes ini memakan waktu sekitar tiga jam dan diselenggarakan dalam 4 bagian, yaitu bagian:
listening comprehension,
grammar structure and written expression,
reading comprehension, dan bagian
writing.
Nilai hasil ujian TOEFL berkisar antara: 310 (nilai minimum) sampai 677 (nilai maximum) untuk versi PBT (paper-based test).

(Tugas Bahasa Inggris 2) How I Loved Castleville
I am gamers. I really like the one is named castleville in the facebook application. Any time, if there is an opportunity, I'll play that game.
Maybe a lot of people ask why I am very like of the game. I can only smile. Game makes my life more colorful. Can to imagine as one of the characters in the game, and building the kingdom like the one in the game castleville.
This game may not be feasible for someone my age. But it seems to make my hobby override it. In the world of the game nothing feeling sad, lonely, angry, etc., are just happyand and excited. At least it is to entertain myself.
